The Death of My Dog????????? Plz Read.?

i am currently 15 years old. when i was 3 i got a puppy that i named buster bunny boy. half Chinese Pug and Chihuahua. well on September 6th 2008 he died. Unfortunately i’m the one that found him. that dog was my best friend, and here it is November, and i still havent got over his death when i start thinking about him and looking around and i can’t see him i start crying!. if he was still alive he would’ve been 13 years old on November 5th, so does anybody know what i can do to patch this hole that’s in my heart from losing my doggy? i do own another dog named Mutlay but he is a large breed and it’s not the same. My mom says she will buy me another Buster Bunny Boy but i say no because there was only one Buster so if i get another dog i feel as if i am replacing him, i don’t want to do that. so any body have some sources to help me? thank you.

I feel very sad for you and understand. We had to have our beloved Tye-girl put to sleep on 11/01/08 and she would have turned 13 on 12/05/08.

I miss her so much too.

I hope this helps (was sent to me):

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together…

Perhaps when you do feel ready to get another dog, you should get a rescue. That way you will actually be helping another dog, and literally saving a dog’s life. That should make you feel pretty good! And Buster would probably like that.

Its sad but you will get over the death of your dog in time, he had a good life. Allow youself to grieve. Crying is natural, in time you will cry less and remember the happy times. Try to tranfer your love to your other dog, he may be pining for his companion too you know?

Don’t be too quick to get a replacement puppy, you are 15, you won’t live at home forever, who will look after the new dog when you go to college/university?

Only time will take care of this. Getting another dog is by no means replacing your old one. It just means your heart gets bigger and has room to love another dog.

I’m really sorry to hear that. Time is your best bet to heal what you are feeling. Try to focus on how happy you made his life and positive memories. When and if you’re ready to get another dog just think of it as getting a new friend, not as replacing Buster b/c you won’t be able to, which I’m sure you knew.

    The Rainbow Bridge
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It’s called the Rainbow Bridge because of it’s many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly looks up! His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of you trusting pet.
The you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be seperated.

It seems like your dog lived a long and happy life. I know how you feel, my pets are like my family members but unfortunately they dont live as long as us. Just keep in mind that he lived to an old age and was loved very much…that’s more than any dog could ask for, most arent so lucky.

I have a Chihuahua and a Pug…they are wonderful! You wouldnt be replacing him if you got a new puppy…one pet cant be replaced with another. There’s nothing wrong with giving your love to a new puppy while remembering the one that passed. It may be the perfect solution to keeping your mind off your grief.

Losing your pet dog is one of the worst feelings in the world and it is as bad as losing a family member. The grieving is awful and you may feel right now like you will never get over it but eventually you will. Just tell yourself that he had a really happy life with you and couldn’t have wished for a happier one. Dogs live much shorter lives than us so we can only be as kind and loving as possible to them until it’s their time. Eventually you will be ready for a new dog and will love him just as much but for now what you are feeling is normal.

I’m very sorry that you lost your little dog. I know exactly what it feels like because I lost mine after 12 years that I had from when she was a puppy. It broke my heart just like you have a broken heart right now. I probably shed a few tears every day for 6 months after she died. It was very difficult. I never thought I would want another dog because I never wanted to hurt like that again.

About 2 years after my little dog’s death, I finally found another little dog that I decided to adopt. Even though the new puppy would never replace my Buffy, I just fell in love all over again. It really helped me feel better. This puppy is a boy, the same kind of dog that even looks like my Buffy, but has a totally different personality. Buffy and Panda (both dogs) are Shihtzu’s.

Give yourself some time to mourn, then start looking at some new puppies or find a nice dog at a shelter. I guarantee that you will fall in love again just like I did. I still remember my Buffy and even put flowers on her grave. After you take time to grieve and start looking at possible puppies to adopt, get another small dog since you seem to like them so much. I am the same way. I like the little ones.

I know you are hurting very much right now sweetie, but it will get better.
