    Hi

It may or may not make a difference, but it will prevent pregnancy.

    Best of luck,

In your house yes, but male dogs tend to mark their teritory, except for home because they know this is their home. Sometimes they mark everywhere else so that they can find their way home.

The earlier you can neuter a male, the better with regard to scent marking, but it generally does not eliminate the problem.

You should definitely neuter your dogs for a whole host of health reasons, but potty training may still have to continue.

They may do it less; it’s not enough to stop them. They are competing to see who is the dominant dog, and sex doesn’t have much to do with that.

Training can help. Crate them –separately!– when you can’t supervise. When they are out, and you are supervising, play with them, keep them busy, and scold any leg lifting. The offender gets ignored for several minutes while you play with the other.

First thing, though, is that you need to clean up all the old pee. Nature’s Miracle makes a great product: it contains some kind of enzyme action that actually eats the scent factors of the urine. This is really important, because dogs, esp male dogs, tend to pee on old pee.

    Good luck.

I have learned it does help them not want to "mark" the house.

It will help but until you learn the art and earn the respect of being the pack leader they will do whatever the heck they want. Remember, dogs react to what we do. We do not sense what they do. When you treat a dog like a human then they do not have a pack to associate with and just act randomly, like urinating on the walls.
    Good luck,
Learn your dog, yourself and your breed and learn what it takes to be the pack leader.

    I definitely doubt it.

How do you even know whether they’re marking or simply aren’t housebroken? If they aren’t housetrained, neutering will have absolutely no impact. This article on housebreaking may help:

Neutering does usually remove the temptation to mark, if they are urine marking. However, it does not work magic. They certainly sound like this is a habit, and simply neutering them will not break a deeply ingrained habit. Neutering might help some, but you will need to address this problem with training. Here’s an article or two about marking and how to stop it:

If they have been doing it for too long, neutering may or may not help.

A crate works very well, but if they have all ready started, there is really nothing you can do to stop it. They will always smell the urine on the walls. If they were puppy’s and you got them neutered they more than likely never would of started.

Nope, it’s a training issue once the behavior has been established.

First off you’ll need to clean every area they’ve marked. Nature’s Miracle, Pure Ayre, hydrogen peroxide & white vinegar are all good options for cleaning the scent out of the area. Dogs have very good noses, so start scrubbing!

Next, get some belly bands. There are many places that sell them or you can make your own. Use a panty liner in them to absorb moisture and make sure the boys are wearing them anytime they’re in the house. Eventually the marking will stop because they’re tired of marking getting wet.
