Does It Sound Like a Scam?

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

This person is currently in Tasmania and I live in South Australia around the edge. Hes asked for my nearest airport which I havent given to him yet. They sent be four pics each of the male and female, The male on a space blanket or something and the female was in a picnic basket, no shots of the household really and both look like they dont have any traces of other dog in them so purebred maybe. Does it sound like a scam? If so please state why it sounds like a scam. thanks
@Lady: I heard that dogs could be sold by anyone at the earlist age of 8 weeks so 9 weeks sounds alright.
So if it is a scam and he has all my info whats the worst that could happen to me?
Ok its a scam, hes got my info (im 13), what can I do the prevent him from stealing my indentity and what else do I need to do?

100% scam.

There is no dog.

There are stolen pictures of someone else’s dog.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "pet shipping company" and will demand you pay for shipping fees, in cash, and only by Western Union or moneygram.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

If you google "Cameroon pet scam", "fake puppy sale scam Western Union" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam. There are sites where you can look up pictures and find the site or sites where the scammer stolen the cute pictures of the puppies.

PUG PUPPY QUESTION??????

Friday, January 6th, 2012

Are there any pug puppies up for adoption or for sale in Illinois? (I prefer adoption centers, etc. pretty much places I can go to to meet the pug. I’m looking to get one because I really want a pug, but I don’t want them to be shipped to me.) Are those websites like "puppyfind.com, "nextdaypets.com", etc. safe? All answers are appreciated.

you can do a google search for pug rescue and your location. You should be able to find some pugs in your area.

Is Buying a Dog Online Safe? and Does This Site Look Credible?

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

ive been looking for a pug to buy for christmas and there arent any in my area. but i found this website that ships and the dogs look nice but ive read a lot about not buying pets online cause you might get scammed so, does this website look credible… please help!

www.LancasterPuppies.com

http://www.lancasterpuppies.com/puppy-for-sale/pug/sneezy-0

http://www.lancasterpuppies.com/puppy-for-sale/jug/micah

do these puppies look good? ive never had a dog before and i really need help to see if this is a right thing to do or should i wait for a breeder by my house to breed more dogs?

That site is a puppy broker. They put you in contact with PUPPY MILLS. So no, don’t support a puppy mill. The dogs are bred only for money with total disregard for health and temperament.

Does This Pug Puppy Look Healthy? Should I Buy It?

Monday, November 14th, 2011

I have found this advert and when I contacted her she said she will sell the pug for £700 and together they are £900.

http://www.gumtree.com/p/pets/pug-puppies-for-sale/90908643

She said one of them is 12 weeks and the other they do not know because the pet said it’s younger than it actually is (that’s what she said and it has confused me).
Don’t shove shelters down my throat either, they don’t have pugs.

They don’t KNOW how old one of their two puppies is??? RUN AWAY as fast as you can. Plus those dogs have no papers (read: bred by puppy mill or backyard greeder who has done NO health tests on the parents–and pugs have a HUGE amount of health problems). Why would you spend all that money on a dog who might not even be purebred?

I gather you’re in UK? Contact the Pug Club ( http://www.pugdogclub.org.uk/ ) and get a puppy from a responsible breeder who does the proper health tests on his/her breeding stock, and gives a written guarantee for the health of the puppy. If you’re willing to consider a slightly older dog, there might be some breeders who will reduce the price on a returned dog (first home didn’t work out), or perhaps they have a youngster that didn’t turn out the quality they’d hoped and it will be available now to a pet home.

What Do You Think of These Pug Puppies??? (Links and Info Inside)?

wow thats a long link… ^

terri-poo= dont know if this one will be needled/dewormed… ( i like the second picture)

http://novascotia.kijiji.ca/c-pets-dogs-puppies-for-sale-Terri-Poo-puppies-for-sale-W0QQAdIdZ309663755

is there any health promblems either of them are prone to? anything that would help my decion? hong long do either of them normal live?

pugs tend to be "yappers", and the smudged in face can cause breathing problems later on, however most pugs dont have this. but find out if the terripoo is dewormed, and if it is, i would reccomened this one, however it still does shed.they would be loyal, and poodles are one of the top 10 smartest dogs, but, because of the terri, like mostly you. my friend has one and he is really cute and loves people. i would get a terripoo

I Need to Find a Pug Puppy for Sale Please!?

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

I need to find a pug puppy or young pug adult for really cheap like under 100 dollars around Alexandria, La! I have looked everywhere and I need to find one! I want to give it to my mom for her birthday! I will even settle for a pomeranian pup, she likes those too but I’d rather the pug! Thanks in advanced!(:

Do not get one from the petstore. They usually get theirs from puppy mills. Try going to ebayclassifieds.com they have ads there for pets. Just type in your zip code, the pet you want like dog, cat, bird etc. your highest price that u r willing to pay and then results will come up with ads on pets around your are. I got my 2 dogs from there and they are adorable. :)

They usually give them away because they cant take care of them anymore wich is what happened with my new dogs. Their owner didnt have time for them anymore.
DONT LISTEN TO :
APBT Kinda Girl

they are not breeders, just people that cant take care of them or are moving to a new aparment or something and dont want to take them to the pound.

good luck

Best Way to Approach Parents About Getting a Dog?

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

I asked earlier about convincing my parents – well it went well, and I’m closer to getting a dog. Both of my parents of owned dogs, my dad when he was a child and my mum had a dog with her ex-boyfriend a while ago. They both love dogs, and my dad wants a dog like me. My mum does, but she is anxious, as you can expect since I’m 13 and will eventually leave. When my parents asked this I told them how they would probably bond with the dog after these 5 years, and I’d frequently visit whenever I could. Money isn’t a problem, I’m saving up for the smaller costs, like food, a bed, toys etc.

I just checked my computers history, and my parents have been looking at puppies and dogs for sale in our area, and they were doing this a few months back which I view as a positive sign.

I want a pug, but I’m fine with a small, loving breed. I have gathered information on puppy care, toys, how to care for them, vet bills. I’ve also gathered information on pugs and their special health problems. I’m wondering what the best way to present this information is, for example:
a) a letter
b) a small speech to them
c) bring this information up piece by piece in conversation.

Also if you could tell me any breeds that fit that of a small, loving breed that would be great in case my parents insist on no pugs (also cant be extremely cute, my dad doesn’t want to be seen with a little furball :P )

Thanks x

It sounds like your showing them how willing you are to look after a dog which is good, and it sounds like you are quite close to getting one, apart from the few worries you mensioned. As for you moving out at 18… I wouldn’t make that a reason not to get a dog. Your only 13 and you will change what you want to do A LOT over the next few years, believe it or not.

For how to approach your parents… I think maybe you should gather evidence of your research on the best breeds, dog food, etc. Maybe print it out and sit down and have a chat with them about it to show your committed. Maybe even go to the pet shop and get a few leaflets on dogs. Whatever you do do not kick up a fuss. You need to show your parents that you are mature enough to hold a conversation, let alone own a dog.

I own a cockapoo and a retriever. I wouldnt get a big dog like a retriever, because there’s a chance it will totally pull you off your feet, and you want to be able to walk your dog. We got my retriever when i was young, and i missed out on taking it walks because its too strong. Im 17 and still find it hard! He’s very good natured but he’s strong and its hard for my small legs to keep up haha. My little cockapoo is the best though. She’s a fearless little thing. She’s so well behaved, and if she does anything wrong and we shout at her she will immediately sit down and put her paw up, haha. I heard cockapoos were supposed to be yappy before i got one, but thats not the case at all with me. She has a high bark, but she’s not yappy. She may have just took after my retrievers good nature, though. However she does like to show off and will bark deeply (more like sneeze) in front of big dogs. She’s a humorous little thing. I would look into them, and also cavapoos, which are probably not so full of themselves like my little diva. Spaniels are also great dogs. We were very close to getting one. They are very good natured. Goldendoodles are good natured too.

I can’t think of much else to say, but I’m sorry for writing such a long answer and good luck! :)
