i already have enough dogs ALL from shelters :)

Very sad. When people breed these "designer dogs" they usually have no idea what genetic problems they may be putting together. Lots of breeds are specifically prone to certain diseases and problem just because of their breed. It is in their genes. When you mix breeds like this, you never know what those new genes may produce, if that makes sense. Labs and other large dogs are prone to hip dysplasia, sick sinus syndrome is common in Schnauzers…and so on….who knows what diseases you could be breeding into puppies when you mix breeds. I think it is a bad idea. Puppies that are that expensive are typically the pure breeds who come from reputable, responsible breeders who genetically test for diseases and are actively breeding dogs who are healthy. And by doing this they are helping to eradicate those diseases. No mix breed dog should sell for that much, especially when the breeders are obviously keeping a lot of different breeds as parents. I'm sure they aren't making sure they are healthy. I wish this could be illegal. And to think of all the dogs who are put to sleep every day in shelters…mixed breeds and purebreds.

It is disgusting. It's not a real breeder. It's not someone who loves dogs. They're not striving to improve any breeds, which is the ONLY reason someone should breed dogs.

She's in it for the money and that's all. I'd bet my house none of these dogs have been health tested. They are not of breeding quality.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do but educate. In fact, that is why most of us are here.

I had a customer come into my grooming salon today and explain to me that her eight week old puppy was half Miniature Poodle and half Miniature Doberman.

Miniature Doberman? That's news to me.

She bought it from a "breeder"- people who clearly have never made the decision to euthanize a dog from lack of shelter space.

That is soooo sad, some many people are so stupid they actually think those dogs are pure bred, so very sad.

Do you know if she has the proper licensing to have that many dogs at once? If not you could contact the city and they would go over there and make sure everything is regulated and no animal is being abused or neglected. It's insane to charge that much for mixed breeds. But obviously people buy them, so the only real thing you could do is make sure shes obeying the law.

If she's abusing the dogs, call the aspca. Also, if appears she's having a puppy mill be sure to report it to the authorities!! Try the link I included for signs of these things. Good luck.

no, the breeder can breed whatever she wants.
