How many people have breed pug and the mother pug dies?
I was watching a show yesterday and someone bred there pug, and the mother died unexpectly before an emergancy c section accordding to the owner-from what i read, pug mother have a high chance of dying.
They mother pug had 4 puppies- 3 were alive, but the 4 was dead.
The owner hand reared the puppy but the smallest of the remain 3 litter died.
they other 2 pups are doing well.
I am not in for breeding, I am for shelter adoptions myself!
Don't have a pug or breed, but have researched and any of the breeds with particularly large heads in comparison to there bodies (pugs, bulldogs ect) or dogs that are extremely small to begin with , are much more likely to have complications that make a c-section necessary than other breeds, If not done early enough it can indeed result in the death of the moter (this is why breeding should be left to professionals) Many breeders of these breeds have scheduled c-sections for there dogs rather than risk it.
Sounds like what probably happened with the dog in question is the puppy born dead was caught in the birth canal resulting in the death of the b%$*h and the puppy

i watched that show. The dog was too old to breed.
We breed pugs and that has never happened. Nor has it happened to anyone we know that breeds pugs.
That lasy was a backyard breeder and should get a slap around the wrist.
You should only breed dogs that are in good health and young enough to handle the effcts of pregancy and birth.
