Where Can I Find Pugs for Sale?
Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010I need places on where to find a pug needs to be less than 400 dollars
Try checking out the rescue groups listed there. They have adoption fees of less than $400, and you’re not contributing to a backyard breeder or puppymill.

Where to Find Pugs in South West England?
Sunday, January 3rd, 2010Me and my mum want to get a pug, but are having a hard time finding any adverts of them for sale in the South west of England (preferably Somerset)…Anybody know where we could find them?
Go to Champdogs.
Then to search by breed or group until you find pugs. Then you will find anyone that owns, breeds, has puppies etc.
There is one breeder in Devon, another in Dorset and at least one in Somerset (Taunton) but you may need to travel a little further if necessary.

if anyone knows a breeder that breeds pugs for around april time please let me know!:)

http://www.pugdogclub.org.uk/ is the UK Pug Club. Ask them for some breeder referrals in your area.
http://www.pbrc.net/breeding3.html can help you decide if the breeder is good or not.
The champdogs site is clearly a backyard breeder/puppy farm site. One would have to be pretty undereducated to not see this.
Added: When I went to the site, it was mostly BYB’s on the first page of the Pugs section. When ads say things like "Kc reg" and "very healthy", it’s giant red flags that the dogs are not well bred. Most responsible breeders don’t need to use classified ads for whole litters and don’t talk about "great bloodlines". The puppies are champion sired at a minimum and the parents have extensive health tests. Really, before you accuse someone of not knowing what they are talking about, you should ensure that *you* do.
Why Are Pugs So Much From Local Breeders?
Friday, August 28th, 2009I live in Canada and I have noticed all the pugs for sale in the newspaper cost alomst $1000! why do they cost so much? don’t get mad at me because I will probally rescue my dog from a pound but I still want to know why they are so much if they have so many health problems that can cost people over $10,000
I am also in Canada, and that is not an unreasonable price for a well bred dog of any breed. Well bred being the key word here, there is a difference between purebred and well bred.
Keep in mind there are two reasons the dog is so much. One, because the person is a reputable breeder. They do health clearances such as hips and elbows (OFA) and CERF for eyes, at least. There are other breed specific tests that may be done. These tests cost money. They reigister their dogs with a reputable registry. They show or work their dogs, also costs money. They find a suitable stud for their exceptional female after studying lines, learning about genetic issues in those lines, etc, more money. They provide excellent vet care, money and have tons of experience they have learned through years of mentoring with another reputable breeder. They keep the pups at least 8 weeks, sometimes longer for smaller breeds. The pups are weaned long before this, meaning extra food bills, plus vet bills.
In order to even break even, they need to charge this. But what you are getting is experience and a well bred dog that is much less likely to develop health issues, especially inherited ones. WHile there is no guarantee, you are much better off.
Most reputable breeders rarely make a profit on a litter and are usually lucky to break even.
The other reason people ask this much money, is they can because people don’t do their proper research.. They advertise a "purebred" dog for the same amount or a couple of hundred less, they can get it without putting in all the work a good breeder does. They don’t do the OFA or CERF, don’t title or work their dogs, allow the pups to go at 6 weeks. Some will offer a cheaper price without papers (illegal in Canada) or papers from a less than reputable registry. All of this to save money and increase their profit. Unfortunately, you are the one who may pay for it in the long run.
If you do go to a breeder, a well bred dog is worth the money. But do your research. Make sure the breeder is a good one.

Rescuing is a great idea. I just wanted to let you know why the prices are high.
ADD-
A good breeder will have a waiting list and all of the potential puppies spoken for. It would be a rare occasion when a reputable breeder has one left over for a bargain price.
Is There a Baby Pug for Sale in Colorado Springs?
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009I know i should adopt a dog instead of buying one, but it is my first dog and i want to start from scratch in training. Also, I really want a baby pug because i want it to get used to me by the way I raise it and not by the previous owners. Please don’t tell me to adopt one because I already know I should…but still. And again, please try and help me instead of putting me down. Thank you for your answers ^^
your better off getting a mixed than a purebred…purebreds are being destroyed with health problems because of show breeders…mixed is healthier and smarter…
